My call audio is choppy and its hard for the remote end to understand me or for me to understand them. This problem occurs off and on without pattern.
This is usually caused by network jitter. Network jitter is the result of your voice packets not arriving to the switch or phone in a consistent state. When the time difference between voice packets becomes erratic, it results in your call sounding choppy. Network jitter is related to your broadband connection and typically occurs at peak times of the day or when your local area ISP is not dealing with voice packets quickly enough to ensure good voice quality. The first thing to do in this situation is call your ISP's technical support group and see if they can find any obvious problems. If your ISP says your connection is fine and you're still experiencing jitter, you may need to change ISP's if this problem is persistant.
